How To Be A Useful Groom-To-Be

A common mistake made by a number of future husbands is sitting back and allowing the bride-to-be and others to plan and take care of the vast majority of the wedding planning. The worst case scenario is that the bride bites off more than she can chew and has to beg her lazy groom to get involved, causing unnecessary stress and tension. There are easy ways to make the wedding planning process go smoothly if you step up and help out.

The best thing that a groom can do is offer to do as much as possible in the beginning stages of the wedding planning and be there to support your bride and the rest of the planners when the ante is upped and the pressure is on. Becoming distant and uninterested in anything but your own responsibilities is a guaranteed way to bring trouble and resentment into proceedings. So get involved from the outset and be a super-groom throughout the process!

Ways To Help

One of the first courses of action for any couple who are planning to get married is to find the venue. A number of couples already have a venue in mind, and that can make this part of the planning quick and simple. But even in this instance, you will still need to see somebody at the venue and agree on dates, the price and what you will have included in the service. It can be a long process but as long as you are on the same page it shouldn’t be too much of a problem and this is a perfect thing the groom can do while the bride takes care of other matters. Some other great ideas to help out include:

  • Verify any needed arrangements/reservations.
  • Help put together any party favors/invitations.
  • Have an opinion.
  • Arrange for wedding attire.
  • Choose your groomsmen gifts as we;; as groomsmen.
  • Ask to help in any way, often.

The more you can do as a couple in the early days: Venue finding, catering, flowers, the service… The less stressful it will become for one of you down the line.

In The Lead-Up

Being supportive in the lead-up to the wedding is also a big must. It can be very easy for the groom to be too preoccupied with the idea of stag parties to be bothering with the little things that could ease the burden for the bride-to-be. But taking on some smaller responsibilities – or at least offering to – should result in a great day to be had for both parties in the end, and you can head off to a new life together with big smiles on your faces.
